State of Art in the Netherlands

 

The goal of the project “Looking@Learning" is to explore possibilities to innovate education in both formal and non-formal fields with a special focus on young people. In this projects a broad range of stakeholders in the field of education in the Netherlands, Spain and Latvia are involved to explore creative learning environments together, share good practices and implement new developments and tools in existing structures and therefor bring innovation in their own realities.

The 1st phase of the project named „State of Art” presents case studies and a collection of information that can be further used to develop methodology for promoting creative learning environment and for doing future studies on creative learning environment.

This study should be viewed as a pilot study inside the project since its goal is to gather initial information about creative learning and creative teaching environment in Netherlands. The study outlines problems in the area of creative teaching environment in Dutch education system, simultaneously viewing education policy documents and inspecting the actual situation in Latvian educational establishments. This study focuses on the situation in formal education (regular and alternative primary, secondary and vocational education) and ngo’ s that are active on local and European level in non-formal education (youth organisation, circus group). This study has special focus on learning environment for young people with learning difficulties and disabilities as most of the stakeholders work (mainly) with this target group.
